Pi Lambda Phi is located at 15 Fraternity Row at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The Chapter was founded in 1925. Pilam has been a traditional power at the University throughout its history. It is usually the highest ranked, or among the highest ranked fraternities, in terms of academics, athletics and service. However, Pilam's greatest appeal is the unusually strong bonds of its brotherhood. Pilam has an extremely successful alumni base that are leaders in business, medicine, and law, among other fields. The Fraternity is currently closed but will be reopening in the fall of 2000.

Pilam has been featured in many national media outlets including Sports Illustrated, CNN, WQAM, and USA Today.

Some of the more famous alumni of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity include Fred Levin. Mr. Levin was an attorney involved in the recent litigation between the State of Florida and the tobacco companies. The University of Florida Law School has been named after him. Sandy Koufax, baseball pitcher, is considered one of the greatest players of all time. Rafer Johnson, one of the best athletes of the century, won the Gold Medal for the decathlon in the Olympics. Leigh Steinberg is a famous sports agent. Bud Selig is the Commissioner of Baseball. Two United States Senators are Pilams, Herbert Kohl and Arlen Specter. Howard Cosell, Stanley Kubrick and Artis Gilmore are also Pilams.
